Of all the methods of awakening, tantra is perhaps the most exotic and or course erotic. A Tantrika raises the latent energies of the physical body, and channels them into a charge to power its way to the higher functions of the organism. In many ways, the bursts of energy are similar to a seven stage rocket through the chakras.
Magic and sexuality were a ritual practice for the ancient Egyptians, and may have contributed to the Elysian Mysteries. Western thought has been influenced deeply by the East. Alexander the Great brought Brahmins and Sannyasins back from India, along with their philosophies. Buddhist traditional stories migrated into the Christian tradition. Dakinis appeared in classical Greek stories as the Muses. |
