Id, Ego, Super-Ego

"An egotist is a self-made man who worships his creator. " ~ John Bright
Id, ego, and super-ego are the three parts of the psychic apparatus defined in Sigmund Freud's structural model of the psyche; they are the three theoretical constructs in terms of whose activity and interaction mental life is described.
According to this model of the psyche,
- the id is the set of uncoordinated instinctual trends;
- the ego is the organised, realistic part;
- the super-ego plays the critical and moralising role.
First and foremost, the ego was created for your survival. The first task is to understand its motivations and to evolve it into a healthy state.
Surrender
Ego &![]() Perception |
Surrender all the inflated satisfaction that derives from any egoic activity... being right, thinking you're smart, dreaming, expectations, judging, desiring, being angry, feeling guilty, etc. Notice and detect every single time the ego tries to grab its hands on you. This way, when you notice it has returned, surrender it again.
What you resist persists.
Love it, accept it, and let it go.
Release all attachments and aversions.
See everything in a state of perfection.
The world is perfect just as it is. People are perfect, just as they are.
This is not a judgment. This is a statement of truth.
See yourself flowing from a state of perfection to a state of perfection.
Self-acceptance coupled with continuous evolution and spiritual growth.
| Upper Me |
The Elusinean mysteries speak of the cycle of corn: first a perfect seed, then roots and stem, then a perfect flower, then a perfect ear, then a withering stalk, and finally a perfect dead plant to be turned into the soil.
All suffering is a result of ego-initated actions.
Creators and their creations are one and the same.
There is no duality.
See yourself as the infinite consciousness that you are. You are not your body. You are not your mind. You are not your thoughts. You are not your emotions.
Meditate. Notice how your mind works. Surrender away any claim to "I" or "me". There is no you, only an egoic illusion that such a "you" exists.
Surrender all resistances to Love. Any negative feeling, ANY negative experience you have is directly a result of some sort of egoic identification.
With ego, duality exists.
Without ego, only Love exists. Everything is in a state of total perfection.
Be patient with yourself. Be kind and loving to yourself. Transcending the ego is one of the most challenging things you could possibly do.
Who are you? Contemplate "Who am I?" Are you your name? Body? Thoughts? Mind? Emotions? Roles? Beliefs? If those change, are you still you? What is the "you" that is always there?

Many circle the mountain examining the various paths without ever making the climb. We offer seminars, consultations, and support networks in the spiritual quest for awakening. We are not affiliated with organized religions as the truth is the same when viewed from the mountain summit regardless of the path to reach it.
Theevolution of consciousness has brought us here - to remind of us of who we are and our purpose here. We are seekers who embrace skepticism, acceptance and the strength in unity. We are greater than the sum of the parts in a greater spiritual work.![]()
